Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for information after tests confirmed two buzzardsfound dead in April were poisoned. The bodies of the birds were found near Chittlehampton in north Devon.

Sergeant Dave Knight, wildlife crime officer for Devon and Cornwall Police, said: “The persecution of birds of prey is one of the national wildlife crime priorities.

“Sadly, the persecution of these birds still occurs and the manner of their poisoning is indiscriminate with potential lethal consequences for companion animals.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111, quoting reference CS/13/215.
