We are extremely pleased to report the success of two fledged peregrine chicks at site 2 this week. Both chicks seen in our image highlights what can be done if the landowner is sympathetic to breeding raptors. This is the second year this pair of peregrines have been successful at this site. Last year 4 chicks fledged from the nest, a landmark situation for any peregrine nest located on a private sporting estate in the Forest of Bowland.
The small nesting crag, located above a small stream, is situated adjacent to a former grouse moor which today due to an almost total absence of red grouse is no longer viable. In 2007 it is reported the four eggs were stolen by an egg collector. May we take this opportunity to pay tribute to this particular landowner together with all their staff.

great photo ,but who ever took the pic should of removed the racer’s leg with attached ring
We thought about doing just as you say degsy, but decided not to. This web site is about reporting fact, not making ANY alterations or destortions to anything we observe and report. Lets face it, everyone knowns peregrines do take and kill feral pigeons.
