Raptor death toll in Ross-shire increases from 7 to 11 dead birds and there may be more to come.

The incident concerning the deaths of five red kites and two buzzard we highlighted just  two days ago has now taken a turn for the worst after the discovery of  an additional  four dead raptors in the same area of northern Scotland. It appears from a report issued by the BBC it is likely more corpses are still being discovered. From information we have just learned the total figure of red kites found dead has climbed to eight. Without doubt this is one of the worst incidents of its kind ever reported in Scotland. More details to come….

Police Scotland has asked that members of the public contact the force if they find any other dead birds of prey. Police have begun an investigation into the cause of the deaths.

Editor’s Comment. This time this incident, may have nothing to do with gamekeepers, only time will tell!

Now it’s 13 birds and counting, words fail me! The Scottish Parliament MUST surely take derisive action to bring this carnage to an end once and for all?

    Now 16 !!!!

  • This is absolutely horrific and sickening, what will happen to the evil people responsible for this mass slaughter of raptors, will they ever be caught is the biggest question?
Up until now no government body or any other organisation has put much effort into harsher punishment for these types of crime, they need custodial sentences at the very least.
This is a heartbreaking affair which I fear will get worse, whoever is doing this needs to be caught very quickly and although it is to late for these poor birds they must be made an example of.
