Movements of two Langholm Hen Harriers can now be monitored on line.

In the past when any of the Langholm Hen Harrier chicks had been fitted with satallite tags, information about their movements thereafter was impossible to follow or verify on a day to day basis. There was one well reported incident where one tagged fledged harrier from Langholm was reported missing, off the radar, after the satellite tag had stopped working somewhere in the north Pennine region. The most disappointing aspect of this incident, there was no information provided of the precise moorland estate where the last satellite signal had been received from. Now that is all about to change as the movement data for two of this season’s chicks will be displayed on line for everyone to follow, just as long as the information is updated on a regular basis.
