Following the Radio 4 broadcast 3rd August which investigated the widespread illegal slaughter of birds, including many birds of prey, on the island of Malta, Raptor Politics asked our followers to send an email voicing concerns about the persecution of protected raptors here in the UK to Joseph Hennon [email protected] at the European Environmental Commission. Part one of this story can be read here.
It has now been almost three weeks since many of you sent your e-mails enclosing your concerns about the persecution of British raptors to Joseph Hennon at the European Environmental Commission. Disappointingly as far as we are aware and despite the serious concerns enclosed within your e-mails, Mr. Hennon has so far not replied to a single e-mail. However coincidentally we advised this morning John Miles, following a second e-mail John sent to Mr Hennon, received the attached e-mail sent by i-phone from Mr. Hennon this very morning advising that individuals should now contact Monica Western.
John Miles sent this attached e-mail to Mr. Hennon on 20 August 2012, at 10:07:
Mr Hennon,
Over 2 weeks since I sent this email (copy not attached here) and still no reply. Do you want me to take this higher?
John Miles
Email reply received by John Miles 20th August, 2012, at 10.10 from John Hennon
Hi John,
You should have received an Out of Office reply saying I am away until September and asking you to contact my colleague Monica WESTEREN, in copy. I am sure she will get back to you directly.
Best
Joe Hennon

In view of this Reply we are now asking everyone to contact Monica Western by e-mail enclosing once again your concerns regarding the persecution of Raptors in Britain and the lack of any government action to bring this illegal activity under control. [email protected]
